I m going to correctly guess you are using a crosley.
I do this with every new record and i never have any issues with pops unless there is a manufacturing defect or something.
While it may occur on old records due to storage paper sleeves or dust in the environment new records may also have dust or dirt.
Time for a magic trick.
I have checked the needle for any lint or dust but i see none.
Remember the two main culprits the setup and the record and that more often than not it is a turntable or environmental issue when it is a brand new record.
So i recently got some records for a victoria all in one player i and very happy with the product and albums except it seems to skip on my micheal jackson thriller album.
When in doubt play the record on a friend s turntable or record shop to rule out the vinyl itself.
